One of the best parts of doing this body positive project, is the collection of uniquely strong women I have met. Each one I have had the pleasure of working with has been an asset to the equine community; from small business owners, to competitive riders, to passionate outspoken enthusiasts.

Meeting Casey was no different. Not only is she just an absolutely sweet person to be around, herself and her business associates are equally incredibly professional and personable. I was greeted by the cutest dog, and lots of kittens! And y'all know how I feel about meeting barn kittens.

Black Cat Equestrian is the cutest little facility nestled amongst sprawling hills, beautiful tall trees, and even a little pond. Not to mention that the light that evening was perfection! Elsie was all dolled up and ready to shine, and boy did she! She was so well behaved, but just goofy enough to give us some hilarious outtakes.

Black Cat Equestrian is a lesson barn with a focus on being diverse. They help to maintain that diversity by working to offer affordable lessons, building strong and confident riders, and even creating a sponsorship for riders or different financial backgrounds. "Teaching my students to feel strong and confident doing something as amazing as horseback riding makes me feel like I’m making a difference in their life, on and off horses." says Casey.

She goes on to note: "Our barn is focused on keeping the sport about loving horses. I think riding horses is so therapeutic and can make you feel accomplished and proud. If I have a student that struggles with any kind of bias towards them, I want them to feel at home at my barn."

A quick scroll through their social media, or a brief visit to the farm is really all you need to feel that hardworking welcoming nature that Casey is working to foster. It was such a joy to meet Casey, her horses, and her crew. I cannot wait to see Black Cat continue to grow and flourish in the future as they impact their community in positive ways.
